Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Cook to prepare hot and cold filled rolls and make light meals according to our menu. They must be good at multi-tasking and be able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment


•          Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment

•          Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)

•          Cook food on griddle and use other various utensils

•          Check food while cooking

•          Ensure great presentation

•          Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in kitchen

•          Ensure all food and other items are stored properly

•          Check quality of ingredients

•          Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages

Keep kitchen to high standard of hygiene

•          Keep accurate records for food hygiene purposes and dealing with environmental health inspections.


•          At least 2 years’ experience as a cook

•          NVQ/SVQ Level 2 in catering

•          Experience in using cutting tools and other cookware equipment

•          Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)

•          Ability to work as part of a team

•          Good communication skills

•          Weekend work and early starts so own transport may be necessary

•          Must be able to cover extra shifts if required i.e... sickness and holiday cover

Counter assistant/Fish fryer- The Castle Café – Mauchline

Part time position – Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hours are between 3pm and 10pm – must be flexible regarding these hours. 16 hours per week but may increase

Previous experience is an advantage but it’s more important that the successful candidate has the right “can do” attitude. Full training will be provided by the Employer.
