SESH is the new group work experience project which has
been set up in the Cumnock and surrounding areas by our Supported Employment
Job Coaches. The Supported Employment
Team support clients who have Autism, Learning Disabilities and enduring long
term mental health. Throughout these
sessions the clients will gain work experience, on job coaching through
systematic instruction, development of their skills and abilities and explore
new experiences. They will be able to identify career paths and undertake
training and development sessions.
SESH have been gaining work experience working alongside
the Auchinleck Community Development Initiative (ACDI) Recovery Cabin Crew in
Auchinleck.
Every week we will be posting progression stories and images of the work the team are doing in their projects; The first week for Byron and Martin started with cleaning up and organising the memorial which is located outside the Boswell centre in Auchinleck. Together they cleaned up the grass edge, pulled weeds, planted new plants which will bloom every year as well as tidying up the grounds around the memorial.
Martin Wallace and Byron Sykes have been preparing, completing and maintaining the ground around the memorial before beginning work on the new relaxation and memorial gardens. Throughout these sessions Martin & Byron have developed confidence, social skills and have built good working relationships with the Cabin Crew members. Job Coaches, Colleen Moan and Cheryl Brown have been working alongside Janet Smith, Peer Support Worker to coordinate and oversee the project whilst supporting the individuals to succeed and progress to employment.
