Referrals should be job ready candidates; previous care experience is desirable but not essential.

Candidates must have the following available to them on all days – PC, laptop, tablet or suitable device, a good internet connection, a suitable quiet work space (preferably within their own home)

Qualifications -

All candidates will complete 3 industry recognised certificated online modules in work related Health & Social Care topics


Week 1 -  Care Industry Knowledge and Qualifications for example -

 The Role of the Care Assistant

SSSC registration and Codes of Practice?

Self-Directed Support

Care About Rights

Dementia Awareness

Challenging Behaviour

Food Hygiene

Continence Promotion

Safe Administration of Medicines

 

Week 2 – Employability Skills and interaction with local employers, for example –

Care related CV building

Job Applications

Interview Preparation

Mock Interviews

Introduction to local employers who have current vacancies

 

Jobs: Residential Care Assistants

Home Care Assistants in the Community

There will be Full Time and Part Time job opportunities with local employers. We will work with candidates to secure job interviews during or immediately following successful completion of the course.  Job offers will be subject to satisfactory references and PVG.

 

During the course we will fully support all candidates to ensure that everyone is able to take a full part in the course and will continue to work with them post course to help them successfully move into work.

Online course delivered by WEA Scotland tutor via Zoom

Monday to Friday via zoom sessions and home working.

There will be morning and afternoon sessions each day, all home working assessments must be completed before the start of the next day
Number of places: Minimum of 12 (East Ayrshire residents)
NB. At least 5 of them must be NTTF eligible

Referrals will be taken and interview time/date allocated from w/c Monday 1st March

 

We will conduct interviews online via a zoom link that will be sent to the referred persons email.

WEA will notify successful candidates and confirm with JC+ Advisors. All course paperwork will be completed prior to the start of the course.
