Nicky Buchanan - Employability Client

Nicky registered with East Ayrshire Councils Employability Team as unemployed in June 2020 after being made redundant in April 2020. Nicky was feeling so worried and anxious about the future with no job. After discussing ideas and business plans with her work coach, a training package was put in place to help Nicky achieve her goal to become a Semi-Permanent Make-Up Artist. Nicky completed training in Semi-Permanent Make-up and started her own business in October 2020.  Nicky approached the service for further support in May 2021 to gain more skills to allow her to develop her business further, Nicky received 70% funding toward the cost of additional training.  Nicky is still employed and her business is going from strength to strength.

Nicky says:

“I’m so glad I sent an email to employability to enquire about any help towards funding for training for my dream job to become a Semi-Permanent Makeup Artist. This support changed my life and I finally felt a glimmer of hope. My life has changed and I now have my business within Kilmarnock and I am now fully qualified as a semi-permanent makeup artist all thanks to East Ayrshire Council’s Employability Team.”
